Paul David Bauer, Nashua

Program Coordinator & Educator Southern NH HIV/AIDS Task Force

Paul passed away at the age of 44 on November 14, 2008 in Nashua. He was born and raised by
Andrew C. and Lillian "Dahl" (Pauro) Bauer in Cherry Hill, NJ, and is survived by his mother,
brothers, Andrew Bauer of Nashua and Charles Bauer of Concord, and their families.
Paul's pastime
interests included rollercoasters, travel, exploration and Gothic art and architecture. His favorite books were
"Treasure Island" and "Crime and Punishment," and he loved most music and movies.

Paul attended Nashua High School and St. Paul School from 1978 to 1982; received a Bachelor of Arts from
Colgate University in International Relations in 1986; a Master's Degree in Administration from Stanford
University in Policy Analysis in 1987; and was a Doctorial Candidate in Educational Processes at Northwestern
University from 1989 to 1991. Paul was an integral part of the HIV/AIDS community in New Hampshire, educating
and counseling students, individuals and clients about the disease in an effort to prevent individuals from acquiring
the virus and advocating for necessary care and services for those living with HIV/AIDS. He was a tireless
advocate for the needs and rights of People Living with HIV/AIDS as the Community Co-Chair on the NH-HIV
Community Planning Group and as a representative to the NH Legislative Commission reviewing state laws on prevention,
education and control. Paul worked for the Southern NH HIV/AIDS Task Force as HIV Prevention Coordinator.

His contributions surpassed all expectations. He was the Chair of the agency's 2008 Nashua HIV/AIDS Walk, making
it the most successful Walk in the agency history. Paul also worked as Director, Graduate Programs at Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute; Director of Admissions, Western State University College of Law; Asst. Dean and Director of Admissions at
Northern University School of Law; Director Admissions, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University; Asst.
Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University; and Research
Associate, Office of Enrollment Management at Boston College.

SERVICES: A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held on Tuesday, November 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home,
1 Lock Street, Nashua, NH. While the NH HIV/AIDS community lost one of its heroes, Paul's legacy will continue to inspire
his colleagues and fellow community members for years to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to

Interment Prayers and Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua on Wednesday, November 26 at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street, Nashua, NH 03064

 

About Us

A private, nonprofit agency, the Southern NH HIV/AIDS Task Force (The Task
Force) works to increase the quality and availability of knowledge, services,
and resources in all matters relating to HIV infection and AIDS to people in
Southern New Hampshire regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, disability,
gender, age or sexual orientation.

The Task Force is the only HIV/AIDS service organization in the Greater Nashua
area providing important community based HIV prevention education and direct
services to people living with HIV and AIDS.

  • We provide various support services to an average of 120 clients
    living with HIV/AIDS each year.
  • We reach hundreds of at-risk individual through
    educational and prevention programs.
